Anthony Anderson Hits 50 in Vermilion Win
Vermilion sophomore guard Anthony Anderson had a game to remember, hitting the half-century mark with 50 points as the Ironmen cruised past Bismarck State College 101-66 last week. Anderson, a NJCAA Pre-Season All American had an unbelievable day from three-point range, hitting 14 of 20 shots and setting a Vermilion record in the process. He was 4-6 from two-point territory and didn’t shoot a single free throw. Anderson’s point total was just two shy of the school record held by Art “Ditto” Frazier of Minneapolis Washburn in 1984.
“In all my years of coaching I’ve never seen anything like that,” Vermilion coach Paul McDonald said of Anderson’s performance. “To get 40 in a game is something, but to get 50 the way he did is utterly amazing.”
For the season, Anderson is averaging 24 points per game and 8 rebounds. He is a sophomore from Cleveland East High School.
